Adelscot****
Very unusual strong beer which is difficult to find in the UK, but is reasonably common in its native France.
It has a distinctive peaty, smokey flavour, thanks to the use of Scotch Whisky ingredients in its brewing!

"First tasted in Wisconsin in the early 80"s. I sold it in Detroit and Ann Arbor Mich in 1995. Went to France and enjoyed it in 2000. Unable to get it in the U.S. anymore. Great beer, to be enjoyed after a hard day's work as a reward. To me it is a special occasion beer. If it is available in Montreal or Toronto, let me know. With the infusion of very good Belgium triples coming over, I would hope Fischer's brewery would start sending it again. I know a number of people in the Ann Arbor Michigan area that would enjoy this type of beer."

Anchor Steam Beer***
Brewed in San Francisco, Anchor Steam can be found in the UK and it is worth the search. Dark and quite bitter, clean tasting and not heavy.
Your comments
"Excellent brew, but not brewed with steam. The origin of its name is from the very active fermentation of lager yeast at room temperature. Thus when the wooden kegs were tapped in the old days, the initial opening resulted in "steam".

Arran Blonde***
From the Arran Brewery in the Isle of Arran, Scotland, comes Arran Blonde.

Arran Red Squirrel
Arran Red Squirrel doesn't seem to be listed at the moment on the Arran Brewery website.
Your comments
Skiv of Glasgow has tried it and says: "Reddish brown beer with nutty aroma and deep malty palate. Good balance of malt & hop with suggestions of liquorice and burnt toffee in the finish."

Bernard Special Dark Beer***
With a distinctive swivel-top like Grölsch, Bernard Special Dark Beer is a Czech black lager, with a distinctive flavour. Tesco sometimes have it in stock.
James Boag's Premium Lager*****
It is really hard to put your finger on what is so special about James Boag's Premium lager beer, all the way from Tasmania. It just has a tremendous balance and a crisp clean flavour - wonderful.
James Boag's St George***
An ideal lager-type beer for those who don't like their beer bitter, again from James Boag in Tasmania. St George has interesting citrus notes to its full flavour. Difficult to find in the UK.
BrewDog Trashy Blonde***
One of the products of BrewDog www.brewdog.com based in Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire. Trashy Blonde is a clean tasting but quite bitter blonde beer, packed full of flavour. AsBrewDog puts it "beer was never meant to be bland, tastless and apathetic". Trashy blonde certainly isn't.
Brugse Blond*****
Brewed in Brugge in Belgium, a chilled Brugse Blond on a hot day is just heaven!
Brugse Zot***
Not very flattering to the people of Brugge in Belgium, because it takes its name from their nick-name Brugse Zotten (Brugse fools)! It's a traditional top-fermenting beer that is re-fermented in the bottle. There is a real aromatic flavour imparted by the hops.
Budweiser *
The American Budweiser (not the original Czech Budweiser) seems to be conquering the world along with Miller.
It is light (in both colour and taste) with a rather insipid flavour. On a hot day, I'd grab an ice cold Bud willingly... but only if there was absolutely nothing else available!

Budweiser Budvar*****
This is the original Budweiser! The Czech Budweiser Budvar (you know, the Budweiser that actually has some flavour)! The Czechs know how to make beer and this is one of the best. (For any American readers, Czech Budvar is sold in the USA as Czechvar.)

"Budvar... now you're talking real beer."

Budweiser Budvar Premium Dark Lager*****
You can also get Budweiser Budvar's Dark Lager occasionally in this country. Very good it is too. You get the taste of roasted malt giving a slightly caramel aftertaste. Last found in Oddbins.
Cobra***
Why drink British or US beer or lager with an Indian meal when you can have the real thing - Cobra Indian beer!
