“We have been looking for the right site to bring our family-friendly all day dining concept Giraffe restaurant to Scotland for a while,” says Russel Joffe, owner of Giraffe. “When the opportunity came up to open at the new Union Square development arose, we all agreed this would be the perfect fit.”

The menu for Giraffe restaurants was dreamt up by Russel Joffe and his wife Juliette, together with their long-term friend Andrew Jacobs. Their idea was to take “a culinary tour across the globe”, with a menu that “reads like a guide to the world’s favourite foods”. The menu includes breakfasts, all day brunch, stacked high burgers, healthy salads, handmade pies, desserts, fair trade coffee, smoothies, cocktails, beers and wines sourced from around the globe.

Giraffe clearly is designed to appeal to children as well, with their very own menu complete with puzzles and games to keep them entertained. Giraffe makes bold claims that their children’s menu is healthy, offering fresh dishes such as salmon fingers with mash, broccoli and sweetcorn; grilled chicken burger or a mini brunch with sausage, eggs, Heinz beans and toast.

The new Giraffe is open Monday-Friday 8-11pm, Saturday 9-11pm and Sunday 9-10.30pm in Union Square, Guild Street Aberdeen AB11 5RG. Their telephone number is 01224 581300 Giraffe are on Twitter.
